Code of conduct

Honour and respect

  • All learners are expected to act with courtesy, respect and obedience toward all authority figures, adults and elders at the school.

  • No crude, dirty or inappropriate language by facilitators or learners will be tolerated.

  • No racist remarks will be tolerated under any circumstances.

  • All property, whether your own or belonging to the school or other people, must be treated with respect.

  • All books must be covered and printed papers must be in files or pasted in books. The learning material must be taken care of and kept tidy.

  • Vandalism and theft are seen as very serious offenses.

  • Fighting and bullying are forbidden. Fighting during school hours is a serious offence. Parents will be notified.

  • Disruption of classroom activities is also a very serious offense.

  • Our values at school are: respect, responsibility, attitude, knowledge and commitment.

Punctuality

  • Learners must always be punctual regarding school times, assignments, extra-mural activities as well as school functions.

  • If your child is using public transport – please ensure that the transport drivers know the times of our school.

 

Absenteeism

  • Must be kept to a minimum and declared with a note from a parent/guardian or doctor’s note (in case of illness). Unusual absenteeism must first be clarified with the principal.

Duties

  • Assignments and homework given out by teachers must be completed punctually. All learners are expected to thoroughly prepare for tests and exams.

  • Homework and class work must be signed by parents/guardians daily.

  • It is still the parents’ responsibility to make sure that their child complete the work at home.  Please help your child – they need your assistance.

 

Schoolgrounds

  • No bicycles are allowed to be ridden or placed on schoolgrounds.

  • No learner is allowed to leave the schoolground without the permission of the school principal or the person in charge.

  • Learners are only allowed to play in the designated play areas during breaks.

  • No rubbish may be strewn in class, on the playground or in the school vehicles.

  • Any eating in class without permission is prohibited. No chewing of gum is allowed at the school.

  • Changing of classes must be done quickly and in single file.

School uniform

  • Every learner is expected to wear their official school uniform and sport uniform (as approved by the governing body), with pride and respect.

  • Summer clothes: January to end of April; September to December. No beanies allowed.

  • Winter clothes: May to August.

  • Grey long/short trousers

  • Grey long socks

  • Black school shoes

  • Green pullover/jersey

  • Tie (optional)

  • School tracksuit only during the winter.

 

Girls (summer + winter)

  • Grey school shirt

  • Green school skirt

  • Grey long/short socks

  • Black school shoes

  • Green pullover/jersey

  • Tie (optional)

  • Grey long trousers

  • School tracksuit only during the winter.

Friday clothes

  • Long, plain, blue denims - no torn denims allowed.

  • AJ Jacobs sport shirt.

  • Tekkies - no flip-flops or funny shoes.
     

Learners’ hair

Girls

  • No highlights or colouring.

  • No hair allowed to touch collar.

  • Elastics and headbands – only bottle green / yellow / black / navy

 

Boys

  • No highlights or peroxide.

  • No extensions.

  • Only one line permitted – no patterns.

  • No braiding.

 

Conduct

  • Learners’ conduct and actions in or out of school must be of such a nature that the school is not dishonoured.

 

 Prefect rules

  • Observe the school rules at all times.

  • Be dressed appropriately at all times.

  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.

  • Be punctual for your duties.

  • Maintain a perfect behavioural record.

  • Be positive and enthusiastic.

  • Be able to encourage and motivate fellow students.

  • Be co-operative, helpful, well-mannered, trustworthy and responsible.

  • Be respectful toward teachers, your peers and the school environment.

  • Display leadership qualities: confidence, initiative and problem solving skills.

  • Be willing to take on extra responsibility.

  • Be able to work independently and complete tasks without supervision.

  • Maintain a good academic record.

  • Be a good ambassador of the school.
